Research conducted by the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media (GDIGM) finds that women and people of color are often underrepresented in media, and shown in stereotypical ways. These portrayals limit the aspirations of young viewers.

In the U.S., only 24% of professionals in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) are women.
