First Look: “If He Can See It, Will He Be It? Representations of Masculinity in Boys’ Television”
In partnership with Promundo and the Kering Foundation, the Institute launched new research on how masculinity is portrayed in the most popular television shows among boys age 7-13, and how media-makers can have a positive impact by creating diverse and healthy representations of boys and men onscreen.
Since 2004, the Institute has been raising industry awareness on the imbalance of onscreen gender representation in children’s entertainment media – to get to the finish line, we must broaden and improve the representation of all characters.
This event is the first in a series of new research and resources from the Global Boyhood Initiative, a project of Promundo and the Kering Foundation. This event is by invitation-only.
