Michelle Obama Books Stars to Mentor: Geena Davis, Hilary Swank, Anna Deavere Smith & Others

On March 30, 2011, First Lady Michelle Obama hosted a special event during the annual celebration of Women’s History Month at the White House. Mrs. Obama brought together more than twenty accomplished women, including Geena Davis to serve as mentors and share their experiences with students in the Washington, D.C. metro area. During their visits to local schools, the guest mentors gave brief presentations on their backgrounds and then participated in a question and answer session with students. Following the day of mentoring, the First Lady hosted a dinner and program with 120 additional students from local schools and additional mentors from in and outside government. Read More…

This award will be presented in conjunction with the Gulf Coast Chapter of U.N. Women and presented by Ms. Carol Poteat-Buchanan, The President of the US National Committee of U.N. Women.
