Representation of Masculinity in Boys’ Television

June 23, 2020

Join the Institute in partnership with Promundo and the Kering Foundation for the launch of new research on how masculinity is portrayed in the most popular television shows among boys age 7-13, and how media-makers can have a positive impact by creating diverse and healthy representations of boys and men onscreen.

Since 2014, the Institute has been raising industry awareness on the imbalance of onscreen gender representation in children’s entertainment media – to get to the finish line, we must broaden and improve the representation of all characters.

This event is the first in a series of new research and resources from the Global Boyhood Initiative, a project of Promundo and the Kering Foundation.
This event is by invitation-only.

A Century of Celebrating Women

Hosted by Ebell
March 11, 2020

In honor of International Women’s Day, please join us for a celebration of trailblazing women who have broken barriers in the entertainment industry.

Our partner, the historic Ebell of Los Angeles, will share its proud legacy of diversity and inclusion of women onstage and in the community at this very special See Jane Salon. This historical venue has known many historic occasions from the legendary Judy Garland being discovered on the stage of their Wilshire theater to Amelia Earhart’s last public speech in the Fine Arts Gallery. Our panel discussion will center on celebrating the industry’s movement toward gender equality and diversity and inclusion on our screens and will serve as a call to action for all of us to continue the fight for equality and is destined to make history of its own.
