An evening in celebration of #GirlsLeadSTEM – a national awareness campaign to change the narrative about who can lead STEM.
This October marks the inaugural #GirlsLeadSTEM Month, an effort to advance the conversation around gender and racial equity in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math).
On Friday, October 7, 2022, we came together in Los Angeles to celebrate girls who are leading the way in STEM and discuss ways we can ensure all girls see a future where they can lead in STEM.
The evening included remarks by Geena Davis, Founder and Chair of the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media, Miranda Cosgove, host and Executive Producer of the TV show Mission Unstoppable and Katya Echazarreta, the first Mexican-born woman in space. We also heard from young role models who shared their perspectives on pursuing a pathway in STEM.

About #GirlsLeadSTEM
While women have made gains in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) career fields, persistent gaps remain. The U.S. continues to fall short in empowering young women to lead the way, especially those who are marginalized. Until now. #GirlsLeadSTEM will celebrate the girls who lead their STEM journeys and empower them to raise their voices to inspire each other and share what’s still needed to close gaps in STEM equity.
