Sophia Noor Kiser

Sophia Noor Kiser (she/her) is a Senior Researcher at the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media and a Roy H. Park Doctoral Fellow at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her research interests include race, class, and gender; feminism and women’s studies, social media, psychology, body image, and objectification. In her dissertation, she uses a critical, intersectional lens to focus on evangelical Christian influencers and how their power is reflective of white feminism and white supremacy. Before pursuing her doctorate, she earned a master’s degree in Strategic Communication (also at UNC) and a bachelor’s in psychology from UC Berkeley. Originally from northern California, Sophia worked at Google and ABC News before going back to school. She lives in North Carolina with her husband and son.
