Equity, Inclusion and Diversity, Google

Mackenzie Thomas drives product and marketing inclusion for Google’s consumer apps team, including some of Google’s most loved strategic and loved products like Search, Maps, Photos, & News. She’s a relentless advocate of the user, ensuring that Google’s products work for underserved communities and that people see positive portrayals of themselves in the stories Google tells. Previously, Mackenzie worked for the Google News Lab, the company’s effort to empower innovation at the intersection of media and technology. In 2015, Mackenzie started Accelerate.lgbt, a joint initiative with tech companies and the National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce to help small businesses and nonprofits grow online, ensuring the web is as representative as our city blocks. Mackenzie graduated Phi Beta Kappa from UNC-Chapel Hill (go Heels!) and continues to serve on the boards of the Center for Social Justice and as co-founder and President of the Carolina Pride LGBTQ+ Alum Network.
